Free Journal Give Away and preview of new series!
This week I'm giving away a free digital journal to help us talk to God in color and a preview of the new series starting next week!
If you've been following along, last week concluded my series of reflections on the Lord's Prayer titled 'Talking To God in Color.' If you missed any of those articles, here's an easy way to find them:
1. From Black & White to Bursting With Color.
3. Contemplating the Father’s Character.
4. Embracing the Father’s Kingdom.
5. Seeking God’s Daily Provision.
6. Lord, I Owe You An Apology.
7. Father, Keep the Trials Light & Evil Away.
Now that we've reached the end, I'd like to offer you a practical and actionable way to bring everything together. I've created a daily journal for deeper prayer called 'Talking To God In Color.' This digital journal can be downloaded and printed, or you can use any PDF editor to write directly on the digital version. An iPad, reMarkable, or any tablet with the ability to annotate PDF files works great.
Before you start using it, let me explain how I've designed it to work:
I recommend beginning your prayer by giving God the first word, starting with Scripture. If you don't have a current plan for reading Scripture, my advice is always to start with a Psalm a day. Write the text you've read at the top of the page and then prayerfully read it, reflecting on these questions:
- What word, phrase, or image grabs your attention in these verses?
- How does it touch your life right now?
- To what might the Spirit be inviting you?
From here, a question is prompted by each of Jesus' petitions to help guide you in talking to God within each of these five realms. I invite you to imagine the Holy Spirit asking you these questions:
1. What facet of the Father’s nature are you being invited to contemplate today?
2. Where is the Father inviting you to further conform to His will?
3. Where are you invited to seek the Father in need today?
4. What failure(s) is the Father inviting you to safely confess?
5. Where are you vulnerable and in need of the Father’s protection today?
Simply write your answers to Him in the provided space and observe how nearly the entire experience of your life can be summed up in these five questions. This is what we mean when we talk about “praying in color.” It's not just about delivering our daily requests to God, praying for others in our lives, or confessing sin and seeking forgiveness. Unfortunately, these often become the black and white prayer ruts we fall into. This journal is designed to guide our ongoing conversation with God and infuse it with all the vibrant colors that Jesus intends.
While this journal is free, I'd like to ask you a favor. Would you be willing to give it a try for one month? I've included 31 entries, providing space for an entire month within it. If you're up for the challenge, simply drop me a comment below saying, 'I'm in.' Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have along the way. If any of the questions seem unclear or if you're unsure about how to approach something, just let me know. I truly want this to be a helpful resource.
As always, thanks so much for reading along!
*It may take a second to download, but be patient…it will work:)
